I’m not a survival expert. I don’t wrestle bears. I just really like being outside… and I’m figuring the rest out as I go. Hey! I’m Riley and I live in Alaska, and I have for my whole 20 years of life. I’m very new to camping with simple gear, little experience, and will be learning through trial and error.
I’ve always loved being outside in Alaska but it was mostly at a cabin with running water, electricity, wifi and let’s be real (it is totally glamping). I realized how lucky I am to live in this state and why have I not seen and been to more. Camping lets me unplug and remember how precious and simple life can be while seeing the most beautiful places.
There may be some interesting aspects to this camping blog. The main one is that it is in Alaska. The sun never sets, the weather is unpredictable, and you may run into a few furry friends (yes bears). With these conditions you also get the most beautiful mountains, giant lakes, peaceful creeks, and great places to make memories.
If you are wondering, “Hey, what can we expect from this blog Riley?” You can definitely expect camping recaps with the good and the bad. You can expect recipes and camping gear reviews! I can provide beginner tips with how to avoid mistakes I am bound to make. You can even expect some Alaska specific experiences! I’m not here to teach but to learn and share my own experiences with others. If you are new and just figuring out a new hobby or nervous to start. Let this be your sign to start even if you are scared.
Let’s figure this out together!
